Job Description:

Matrix Research Inc. currently has an opportunity for a skilled technical writer to develop comprehensive technical documentation while working with a multilevel team of technicians, engineers and researchers. This position includes the development, enhancement and execution of Air Force Technical Order (TO) manuals in support of complex electromagnetic diagnostic equipment.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for creation of Air Force TO manuals using MIL-STD-38784 and S1000D formatting
  • Creation of highly detailed documents, tailored to the end user and environment of use
  • Communicating technical content taken from procedural manuals, service manuals, user manuals and/or technical manuals relating to the installation, operation and maintenance of equipment
  • Develop and author operational guides, operational theories, troubleshooting guidelines, fault isolation methodologies and test and repair procedures
  • Working with and authoring S1000D Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs)
  • Producing best quality photography and reproductions as required
  • Interacting with fabricators, technicians, engineers and other Matrix personnel to gain a technical understanding of the overall system under exam
  • Interacting with government customers to ensure products delivered comply with contractual requirements and meet client specifications

Position Qualifications:


Required Qualifications

  • BS in English, engineering or relevant technical writing experience
  • 3+ years of experience in editing, writing or authoring technical documents
  • US citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products
  • Experience with extensible markup language (XML) editors
  • Familiarity with Air Force/military operations and maintenance Technical Orders
  • Proficiency in use of proper grammar and spelling
  • Strong technical editing skills
  • Able to work as part of a team as well as be independently driven

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current DoD clearance
